Ballard Public
2015 - Ballard Public’s sensitive and playful design, including unusually large windows and metal siding, is evocative of “old Ballard” warehouses designed for a new use.
The 96 unit community is designed around a central courtyard facing the block interior, softening the transition to site neighbors. Together with street-oriented retail, the courtyard creates a special place welcoming to residents and neighbors alike.
Retail draws activity into the court and a large water feature beckons from the rear, making a pleasant place to socialize and relax. Atop the project, an expansive roof garden encourages residents to take in sweeping views of the City.
This project was designed by Johnston Architects, a locally renowned firm and long-time collaborator with Parks Inc.
